Resumen : This paper presents relevant contributions of a research that studied the development of the attributes of educational innovation, in the framework of the open education movement, to encourage math skills through the integration of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Learning Object (LO) in ninth grade students of Basic Education in a public school located in the rural sector of Colombia. Digital plotters were used in the teaching of linear and quadratic functions, in order to improve educational practices. The methodology is assigned to the qualitative paradigm through technical case study. The participants were: the research professor, twelve students from ninth grade and two teachers from the school. Data collection was performed using semi-structured interviews with students and teachers and participant observation of the teacher. The information allowed to show how the educational process helps and potentiates the teacher's role as counselor and helps the development of competition in math reasoning and communication to include the REA and OA in the process of teaching and learning.
